Arizona Small Business Association Announces Leadership Transition and Executive Appointment

Interim CEO Debbie Hann to step down after more than 16 years with ASBA; Senior VP of Programs Emma Piazza promoted to COO, will oversee organization during CEO search

Phoenix, AZ – The Arizona Small Business Association (ASBA) today announced that Interim Chief Executive Officer Debbie Hann will be stepping down and passing the torch to pursue other interests. Debbie will remain in her role through the end of the year to support a smooth transition. ASBA also announced the promotion of Senior VP of Programs Emma Piazza to Chief Operating Officer, effective immediately. Piazza will oversee daily operations and organizational responsibilities to ensure a seamless transition while the Board of Directors conducts a thorough search for ASBA’s next CEO.

For more than 16 years, Debbie has been a driving force behind ASBA’s mission to support and advocate for Arizona’s small business community. Throughout her tenure, she has helped guide the organization through periods of growth and transformation, strengthening its statewide impact through collaboration, innovation, and strategic partnerships. Her steady leadership has expanded ASBA’s influence, deepened engagement with members, and reinforced the association’s role as a trusted champion for small businesses across Arizona.

Under Hann’s direction, ASBA advanced key initiatives that amplified the voice of small business at the state and local levels, enhanced member services, and strengthened the organization’s operational and financial foundation. Her legacy will continue to shape ASBA’s mission-driven work and the dedicated team she helped to build.

To provide leadership continuity during the CEO search process currently underway, Piazza will oversee ASBA’s programs, services and events, ensuring solid focus on ASBA’s long-term goals. Since joining the organization in 2019, Piazza has served in a variety of leadership capacities, including operations, membership, partnerships, program development and delivery. She has built strong relationships with public, private, and community partners across the state and has overseen key initiatives that manage state and federal grants in support of Arizona’s small businesses.
